HHS Girls’ Golf 5th at Salina South Invite

The Hays High girls’ golf team finished fifth at the Salina South Invitational held at the Salina Municipal Golf Course Tuesday. The Indians tied with Salina Central with a 363 but finishes fifth due to a better fifth place score. Katie Brungardt shot an 11-over 81 and finished seventh. Brungardt was the only top-10 finisher for the Indians.

Larned Blasts TMP

Larned scored early and often en-route to a 41-8 demolition of TMP on Friday Night.  TMP had to punt on their first possession and Larned scored 1 play later on a 73 yard touchdown pass.  The Monarchs would get a safety midway through the 1st Quarter and then scored on a 52 yard touchdown pass from Max Megaffin to Ryan Mayorga to take an 8-6 lead.  Larned would go on to score the final 35 points of the ball game to pick up the win.

TMP drops to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Mid Central Activities Association.  They will be on the road next Friday at Ellsworth.  Larned is now 3-0 and 2-0 in the MCAA and they will host Ellis on Friday.

HHS Girls’ Golf 4th at Garden City

The Hays High girls’ golf team finished fourth at the Garden City Invitational held Thursday at Buffalo Dunes. The Indians shot a 416 and finished 68 shots back of first-place Maize. No Indian finished in the top-10. They were led by Katie Brungardt who shot a 97 and tied for 12th.

HHS Soccer Loses, TMP-Marian Ties Home Matches

The Hays High boys soccer team trailed just 1-0 at the half Thursday at home against Dodge City, cut the Red Demons score four second half goals and defeat the Indians 5-0. The Indians gave now lost two straight and drop to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the Western Athletic Conference.

TMP-Marian rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit and ties Buhler 4-4.

Hays High Volleyball Swept at Home

The Hays High volleyball team goes winless at their quad yesterday. The Indians lose in three to Garden City (16-25, 25-18, 15-25), are swept by Pratt (21-25, 18-25) and lose in three to Ulysses (25-23, 22-25, 22-25). They are now 4-9 on the season.

Madison Prough led the way with 27 assists, and Haley Wells had 24.  Albany Schaffer had 57 digs.  Audra Schmeidler had 24 kills.

Next action for the Indians is Thursday, September 26th in Nickerson.

HHS Volleyball Swept at Salina Central; Victoria Splits at Smith Center

The Hays High volleyball team fell to 4-5 with a three-set loss at Salina Central. The Indians lost 20-25, 16-25, 25-13. The Indians host their own quad on Thursday.

Victoria goes 1-1 at the Smith Center Triangular, defeating Ellis in three (25-18, 22-25, 25-22) and losing to Smith Center in two (8-25, 16-25). Smith Center defeated Ellis in the third match 25-5, 25-15. Victoria is now 6-3 on the season.

HHS Boys Soccer Comes Short in Great Bend

The Hays High boys soccer team lost 3-1 at Great Bend Monday. Shawn Herrman scored the lone goal for the Indians who fall to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the Western Athletic Conference.

The Indians host Dodge City in their home opener Thursday.

TMP Falls to Clay Center

CLAY CENTER 22   TMP 7

TMP dropped their 1st game of the season Friday Night losing to Clay Center 22-7.  TMP went 3 and out on their opening possession of the ball game and Clay Center would take advantage scoring on a 51-yard touchdown run by Ricky Huse on the Tigers’ 1st play from scrimmage to take a 6-0 lead.  TMP would answer on their next drive as Michael Schulte score his 1st touchdown of the season on a 1-yard plunge and Jack You’s extra point mad it 7-6 Monarchs.  Clay Center answered on their next drive with a touchdown run and took a 14-7 lead that would last all the way to halftime.

The opening drive of the 2nd Half was impressive as Clay Center drove 12 plays, 81 yards in just over 6 minutes and took a 22-7 lead.  That would be the final score of the game.  TMP is now 1-1 on the season and will host Larned this Friday Night.
