KHAZ Country Music News: Alan Jackson’s Exhibit at Country Music Hall of Fame Opening August 29

khaz alan jackson 20140214Alan Jackson: 25 Years of Keepin’ It Countrywill open Aug. 29 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The exhibit will highlight Jackson’s career and run through March 2015. Jackson will also be the museum’s next Artist-in-Residence, the first to do so while being the subject of an exhibit. “Fans will recognize artifacts from milestone moments in Alan’s career, as well as items from his life away from the stage that are as personal as many of the songs he has penned over the years,” says Dir.Kyle Young. KHAZ Country Music News: Jason Aldean Offers Condolences

khaz jason aldean 20120925CLEVELAND (AP) – Jason Aldean is sending “sincere condolences” to the family and friends of Cory Barron, a fan who was found dead after he was last seen at Aldean’s Cleveland concert. Police say Barron, of Fremont, Ohio, disappeared while attending Aldean’s concert on Friday. A worker found his body in a landfill 35 miles away. Police believe Barron may have fallen down a five-story garbage chute and landed in a large waste container. Police are investigating the death as a homicide.

KHAZ Country Music News: Jason Aldean Living Dream In Baseball Stadiums

khaz jason aldean 20130121NASHVILLE (AP) – Jason Aldean says he’s dreamed of playing in major league baseball stadiums since he was 6. Now his dream comes true. Aldean plays Progressive Field in Cleveland tomorrow, the first of five baseball stadiums in which he’ll stage concerts. Aldean says it’s “wild” to stand on the pitcher’s mound when the crew is loading in and watch an empty park come to life with his show. He says he looks forward to the next two weeks with “unbelievable pride and gratitude.”

KHAZ Country Music News: Wynonna on “Hollywood Game Night” Tonight

khaz wynonna 20120621LOS ANGELES (AP) – Wynonna Judd will appear on the NBC game show “Hollywood Game Night” tonight.  She’ll play with ice skater Johnny Weir, actors Scott Foley, Leah Remini and Krysten Ritter and comedian Nick Swardson. Judd will also sing the national anthem when the Dodgers host the Cubs on August 3.

khaz garth brooks trisha yearwood 20140716CHICAGO (AP) – Garth Brooks has announced his comeback tour and he’s going to…Chicago. That’s the only date he’s announced so far. He will launch his tour September 4 in Chicago, a city he has not played in 17 years. His wife, Trisha Yearwood, will be the supporting act. Tickets go on sale on July 25 and with taxes and fees will come up to $65.50, a surprisingly low figure considering demand for tickets is expected to be high.

KHAZ Country Music News: No Garth Concerts in Ireland, Chicago First on US Tour

khaz garth brooks 20120524“I just received the news the Dublin City Council cannot change their earlier ruling to not allow licenses for all five shows,” Garth Brooks says in a statement released Monday. “So it is with a broken heart, I announce the ticket refunds for the event will go as posted by Ticketmaster.” Originally slated to start today, the refund process will now start Thursday (7/17). “I really want to thank all the people around the world who continued to think good thoughts that this would actually happen.” In other news, Andy from Atlanta has revealed that the first stop of Brooks’ U.S. tour will be Chicago.

KHAZ Country Music News: New Inductees to Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame

khaz john anderson 20140710NASHVILLE (AP) – The Nashville Songwriters Association International plans to honor John Anderson, Paul Craft, Tom Douglas, and Gretchen Peters this year. They will be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in October. Anderson’s songs include “Swingin’,” “Seminole Wind” and “I Wish I Could Write You A Song.” Craft’s songs include “Dropkick Me, Jesus” for Bobby Bare and “Brother Jukebox” for Mark Chestnutt. Douglas wrote “Little Rock” for Collin Raye, “I Run To You” for Lady Antebellum and “The House That Built Me” for Miranda Lambert. Peters’ best-known song is “Independence Day” for Martina McBride, but she also wrote “The Chill of an Early Fall” for George Strait.

KHAZ Country Music News: Garth Brooks Music Will be Available Digitally

khaz garth brooks 20120308NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Garth Brooks, one of the last musicians to refuse to put his music on iTunes, will make his songs available digitally on his own website.

The 52-year-old country singer made the announcement Thursday at a press conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

Brooks is one of music’s top-selling artists. He said in the past that he had no animosity toward Apple, but disagreed with its approach to selling music.

Others were like Brooks and refused to join iTunes until reaching deals, including AC/DC, the Beatles, Radiohead and Led Zeppelin.

ITunes was launched in 2001.

KHAZ Country Music News: The Garth Ireland Concert Saga Continues

khaz garth brooks 20131028Just when you thought the story was over for Garth Brooks‘ five sold-out-then-canceled shows in Ireland, the G-man dangles a new carrot of hope in front of the 400,000 fans left in the cold. “Our guys are still en route and if there is any chance that the five planned concerts can be salvaged and nobody is being let down then we can proceed as planned until the refunds begin,” Brooks writes in a letter to promoter Peter Aiken published in the Irish Independent. “If you think that for any reason that the ‘powers that be’ in Ireland can fix this, then I will faithfully go to the last second.” Meanwhile, Ticketmaster has brought in extra staff to handle the unprecedentedly large refund process, beginning Monday (7/14), which is expected to incur a significant cost. KHAZ Country Music News: Americana Music Association Honoring Loretta Lynn

khaz loretta lynn 20120511NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Jackson Browne and Loretta Lynn are getting lifetime achievement awards from The Americana Music Association. Brown will get the “Spirit” award for addressing a number of social policy issues during his career. Lynn’s award is for songwriting. The awards will be handed out at an event in Nashville in September.
