KHAZ Country Music News: Brantley Gilbert Prefers Riding His Tour Bus to Flying the Friendly Skies

khaz brantley gilbert 20130422Brantley Gilbert is always on the go taking his music to fans across the country, and he prefers to do that traveling on his tour bus as opposed to flying to his shows.

Explaining why he hates flying the friendly skies, Brantley tells GAC, “I hate customs. I hate going through security. I hate layovers. I hate cancelled flights.”

Though Brantley has had a lot of success so far, he isn’t to the point where he can fly privately either.

“I’m kinda on a commercial budget,” Brantley says. “I sit in an economy seat. So I would definitely rather be on my bus. I’ve really gotten comfortable with it. It is a home away from home. I can honestly say I sleep just as good there if not better than at home.”

Brantley will be rolling along all summer opening for Tim McGraw on the Two Lanes of Freedom tour starting next month.

KHAZ Country Music News: Kenny Chesney Talks “Life on a Rock,” Concert Security in the Wake of Boston Marathon Attack

khaz kenny chesney 20130418Kenny Chesney lets down his guard more than ever in the songs on his next album, Life on a Rock.  The tracks on the project give real insight into Kenny’s life away from the spotlight down in the Caribbean, and there’s a good reason he felt the freedom to be so honest in these songs.

“I was able to make a record where I didn’t edit myself like you usually do for a record.  I guess because, I approached this record unlike any other I’ve ever done.  I wrote all these songs knowing that the majority of them would never see the light of day on a radio station or in my show.”

While “Pirate Flag,” the lead single from Life on a Rock, is climbing the country chart fast, Kenny is alright with going against the grain of grinding out album after album simply to keep having massive hits.  He thinks the more quiet, private approach he took writing Life on a Rock served him well.

Says Kenny, “It allowed me to really be honest with my fans and tell them stories and open up some doors that I haven’t, and that felt really good.”

Kenny is currently on the road with his No Shoes Nation tour, which will continue through a two-night stand at Gillette Stadium near Boston this August.  Kenny has a long-standing love for Beantown, so the attacks at the Boston Marathon this week led him to stress the importance of security at his live shows.

“It’s always in the back of our mind, but we have as much security as we possibly can,” Kenny explains.  “We play a lot of these football stadiums, and it’s the same security that they would have at a sporting event.  And, I mean, you can’t overdo it either.  What is too much security?  What is too little security?  So, it does make you think about it.”
