KHAZ Country Music News: No Tour for Kenny Chesney in 2014

khaz kenny chesney 20120711

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A Kenny Chesney concert is as much a part of summer as lemonade and swimming pools, but next year he’s staying home. Chesney tells The Hollywood Reporter he’s going to do “the strangest thing in the world: not hit the road next summer.” He wants to concentrate on making an album instead. Chesney says taking next summer off is hard but music is the reason he does it and he wants to concentrate on that.

99 KZ Country: Interview with Justin Rumford

khaz justin rumford 20130801Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo in Phillipsburg is August 1, 2 and 3, 2013.

Get info on the website or facebook page.

Rodeo Clown and Barrelman Justin Rumford visited the KHAZ Studio to talk with Theresa Trapp.

Justin Rumford – Rodeo Clown

The clown for the 2013 Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo is no stranger to Phillipsburg.

Justin Rumford has been coming to Phillipsburg since he was in eighth grade, always rodeo related.

He competed in high school rodeo there, winning the saddle bronc riding title three consecutive years in the late 1990’s. Then he competed there as a steer wrestler, before being a truck driver and help for Beutler and Son Rodeo.

Now he returns as rodeo clown and funnyman.

Justin, the 2012 PRCA Clown of the Year, is naturally funny and quick witted. He’s always looking for new and current material. “I watch funny movies and try to keep up with what’s going on (in pop culture),” he said. “I try to make my acts like skits: short, fun and funny, not complicated.”

The Ponca City, Okla. clown will bring a variety of acts to town, including his Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter, Motorcycle Act, and Basketball Act.

No matter what he does, he’s having fun. “I have a great time, no matter what’s going on. I just keep a good attitude and have a ball, and it’s contagious.”

The Texas Jamm Band is coming to the Trego County Fair on Friday, August 2, 2013.

The Texas Jamm Band features members of George Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band.

What began as a weekly local jam session for some of the Ace In The Hole band members has grown into a successful honky-tonking, hard-driving country band of seasoned musicians.

Their popularity has expanded from that weekly local jam to fairs, festivals, corporate engagements, private parties, and special events throughout Texas and neighboring states.

While the band has slightly changed over time, the music remains the same as when the group began, continuing to fill dance floors, clubs, and event centers while fans embrace the timeless and classic sound of the Texas Jamm Band featuring members of George Strait’s Ace In The Hole Band.
