KHAZ Country Music: Brad Paisley Hosting Chat for “Southern Comfort Zone” Video Premiere Monday

Brad Paisley is hosting a live chat Monday to celebrate the release of his new video, “Southern Comfort Zone.” The clip premieres at 3 p.m. ET at BradPaisley.com and UStream.tv/BradPaisley.  Fans can take part in the chat through Ustream’s social stream or by using the Twitter hashtag #bradpaisleychat.

“Southern Comfort Zone” is the lead single from Brad’s new album, due out April 19.  A title hasn’t been announced yet.

KHAZ Country Music News: Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Open Sin City Engagement Performing “Let’s Go to Vegas”

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill launched their limited Soul 2 Soul engagement at The Venetian in Sin City with a duet version of “Let’s Go to Vegas” Friday night.

According to The Tennessean, the couple remained onstage together for the duration of the 90 minute show as they performed their big hits like “Breathe” and “Live Like You Were Dying.” Of course, their duets on “It’s Your Love” and “I Need You” were a big highlight too.

Tim sang a musical tribute to the Eagles including their hits “I Can’t Tell You Why” and “Life in the Fast Lane.” Faith gave soulful renditions of Aretha Franklin‘s “Dr. Feelgood” and Simon & Garfunkel‘s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” as well.

Tim and Faith’s show at the Vegas runs through April 2013.

KHAZ Country Music News: Clint Black: New Music In The Works

(AP) – Clint Black is putting together his first all-new studio album in seven years. Black tells Billboard he’s wrapping up an album and is in talks with a record company, but he may leak some songs so fans can hear them first. Black has not released an album since “Drinkin’ Songs and Other Logic” in 2005. In the meantime, he’s been working on a Broadway-style show for arenas called “Aussie Adventure,” set on an Australian ranch in 1901 that involves horses and country dancing.

KHAZ Country Music News: Grammy Nominations Special

Taylor Swift on Wednesday night helped announce the nominations for the 2013 Grammy Awards, and she earned one in a major category, too.

Taylor, who hosted the one-hour CBS special Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!! with LL Cool J in Nashville, is nominated for record of the year, for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

It was a big night for Hunter Hayes, too. He announced the nominees for best pop vocal category by performing each song. He later received a couple of nods on the telecast, including in the best new artist category.

Hunter is also represented in multiple country categories, as is Carrie Underwood, Ronnie Dunn, Eric Church and the Eli Young Band.

Fun., Jay-Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys each earned a leading six nominations.

The CBS special featured performances by some of the newly-minted nominees as well as other prominent artists. They included:

Dierks Bentley and The Band Perry: the Johnny CashJune Carter song “Jackson,” in a tribute to The Man in Black.

Maroon 5: “One More Night,” “Moves Like Jagger,” “Daylight” and “Payphone.”

The Who: “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”

Luke Bryan: “I Don’t Want This Night to End.”

The 55th Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on February 10, 2013. CBS will televise the ceremony.

KHAZ Country Music News: Darius Rucker Develops OneHope Wine to Benefit a Good Cause

Darius Rucker has teamed up with OneHope Wine to develop a new signature series offering, with the proceeds going to a great cause. This particular blend was developed by winemaker Rob Mondavi, Jr., and Darius was involved in the process of creating the wine from start to finish. His signature appears on the bottle as well.

KHAZ Country Music News: Country Music Acts Prepare For Bowl Game Performances

(AP) – Country music will dominate the bowl games. Lee Brice will play the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, on New Year’s Eve. Jake Owen will play halftime at the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Day in Miami. Luke Bryan will headline the pre-game show for the BCS National Championship game on January 7 in Miami, when Alabama takes on Notre Dame.

KHAZ Country Music News: Wynonna’s Husband and Drummer Back on Stage After Losing Leg in August Accident

Wynonna performed with her husband and drummer Cactus Moser over the weekend for the first time since the August 18 motorcycle accident that claimed his left leg. The leg was amputated after the accident in South Dakota, and Cactus was supposed to stay in rehabilitation for a month afterwards.  According to the Regina Leader Post, Cactus was ready to leave the rehab facility after just eight days.

Wynonna told the crowd, “It’s been a long way from August 18 to here.  It’s truly a miracle.”

Wynonna’s Christmas tour continues with shows in Ohio and Iowa later this week.

KHAZ Country Music News: “Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas” Is a Ratings Winner for NBC

Blake Shelton is a ratings winner for NBC. His Monday night special, Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas, won its time slot for the network with the 18 to 49 demographic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, that’s off only one tenth of a ratings point from the winter finale of NBC’s Revolution, which usually airs in that Monday night time slot after The Voice.

Blake’s holiday special featured performances of songs from his new album, Cheers, It’s Christmas. His wife Miranda Lambert, plus Reba, Kelly Clarkson and his fellow The Voice judge Christina Aguilera were among the stars featured on the special.

KHAZ Country Music News: Clint Black’s Father Took His Own Life Sunday; Family Is “Devastated”

Condolences to Clint Black and his family on the sudden death of his father G.A. Black at age 78 on Sunday.  According to a press statement, Clint believes his father took his own life due to the loss of his wife Mary Lou and his own declining health.  The family had no indication he was contemplating suicide.

Clint says, “Our family is devastated by this news.  We are still in the beginning stages of preparations to honor our father, and at this time, we respectfully ask for privacy until we have had the opportunity to fully process what’s transpired over the last 48 hours.”

G.A. Black is survived by his sons Mark, Brian, Kevin and Clint.

KHAZ Country Music News: Darius Rucker to Perform on American Giving Awards Saturday Night on NBC

Darius Rucker has signed on to perform at the Second Annual American Giving Awards Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.  Colbie Caillat, Lifehouse and Natasha Bedingfield are also slated to sing on the show, which will recognize actress Glenn Closefor her charitable work over the years.

Other charities around the country will be highlighted during the two-hour special.  Actor Joel McHale of NBC’s Community and E!’s The Soup will host the event broadcasting from Pasadena, CA.

In other Darius news, look for him to perform on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno Wednesday night. His new album, True Believers, will be released next spring.
