The Academy of Country Music has donated $2.5 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Working on a Building capitol campaign. So far $70 million has been raised to support the Hall of Fame’s expansion project, set to open in early 2014.

As a result of the Academy’s donation, the ACM Contemporary Gallery will be a part of the expansion. The new area of the Hall of Fame will examine modern developments and current trends in country music.

KHAZ will no longer be airing Country Gold Saturday Night.  It’s last airing was Saturday, July 7, 2012.

CGSN was a popular cross country call in show featuring the “gold” hits of country muisc.

You will still hear real country music Saturday evenings.  

Below is a letter from CGSN Host Rowdy Yates:

Howdy All,

I received news that I will no longer be the host of “Country Gold.” 

I wanted to tell you all what a blast it has been to host this nationally syndicated product, and interact with all of you from coast-to-coast every week.  Few radio hosts ever get the chance to be on 100+ radio stations every week, and it has been a dream come true.

Understand up front that this was a decision made by the new company that distributes the show, and NOT the local radio stations that carry it.  They have been incredibly supportive over the years, they are my friends (and yours) and I have enjoyed the relationships I have had with so many of them, as well as their advertisers.

Radio is changing, and evolving-and so will I.  I hate to get philosophical, but the only thing constant in the world is change, and I am looking forward to a fresh start-and I hope to find my way back to your favorite station soon.

Seeing The Signs A car was driving very slowly down the highway. A policeman spotted the slow moving vehicle and pulled it over. “What have I done wrong, officer?” the driver asked. “You are going 26 miles per hour on a major highway. There is a law against that,” the officer says to the driver. “You must go at least 50 miles per hour.” “But when I turned on the highway, the sign said 26!” the driver replied. The officer laughed out loud, “that’s because this is highway number 26! The 26 isn’t the speed limit!” The driver leaned back in her car seat and the policeman saw another woman sitting beside her, looking as pale as a ghost. “What happened to her?” the officer asked. “I don’t know, but she has been that way ever since we got off of Interstate 160.”
