NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Kenny Rogers, Bobby Bare and the late “Cowboy” Jack Clement are now members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. The three were saluted by stars including Garth Brooks, Kris Kristofferson, Emmylou Harris and Barry Gibb during a ceremony yesterday at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Rogers helped push country music farther into pop than it had ever been. Clement passed away earlier this year just a few months after learning of his induction.

NEW YORK (AP) – Carrie Underwood says, sure, she’s nervous about doing a live TV version of “The Sound of Music.” She notes that it’s something that neither she nor anyone in the cast has done before. She says it “is definitely a challenge.” Underwood says all the live singing and acting is like “going to a Broadway show, but you’re in your living room.” The Sound of Music special airs on NBC on December 5. If you’re an Underwood fan, it won’t be the only chance you’ll be able to see her on the tube. She will be hosting the Country Music Association Awards. And you can hear her sing the opening song on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” game each week.

Shania Twain opened a Las Vegas location of her Shania Kids Can Clubhouse at Tom Williams Elementary School Monday. “As I began my residency here in Las Vegas [at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace], I knew that this is where I should introduce a new program to give back to this wonderful community that has welcomed me with open arms and made me feel so at home,” Twain said. The non-profit organization is dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children. More here.

NASHVILLE (AP) – The Country Music Association is planning some big-name collaborations for its awards show next month. Taylor Swift, Vince Gill and Alison Krauss will do a version of Swift’s song “Red.” Zac Brown Band will perform with singer Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters. Hunter Hayes and Jason Mraz will do a song together. The CMAs will be November 6 and air on ABC.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Dolly Partonr is home resting after being treated and released for minor injuries she suffered in a car crash she described as “a fender bender.”

Kirt Webster says Parton was already home Monday afternoon following the accident that happened shortly before noon CDT in Nashville, Tenn. Parton says in a statement that she’s “all good. Just a little tired and sore.”

Police say the 67-year-old Country Music Hall of Fame member was riding in an SUV that was hit by another vehicle. Parton and the two others were taken to local hospitals for treatment. A news release says none of the injuries appeared serious.

Lee Brice and wife Sara are expecting a baby boy in December. “Of course I’ve got shows right up until the end of November and she’s freaking out,” Brice tells WestwoodOne’s Country Countdown USA With Lon Helton. “I got a feeling he’s going to come early.”

Country Radio Broadcasters will present their 2014 Artist Humanitarian Award to Carrie Underwood, who will be officially honored Feb. 19 during the Country Radio Seminar opening ceremonies. “In a format rich with artists that are generous with their time and talents for a wide variety of worthy causes and needs, Carrie Underwood has distinguished herself with her depth of kindnesses and commitment to making a positive difference,” says CRS President Charlie Morgan. Underwood’s charitable endeavors include the establishment of C.A.T.S. (Checotah Animal, Town and School) in her hometown of Checotah, OK, and involvement in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Save The Children, American Idol‘s Idol Gives Back and the USO. She also recently donated $1 million from The Blown Away Tour to the American Red Cross and Canadian Red Cross for disaster relief.
