LAS VEGAS (AP) – If you wanted to catch Shania Twain’s Vegas act but can’t get to the desert until next year, you just caught a break. Twain has added another 15 dates to her Vegas calendar. The dates are January 22 through February 15 – and tickets go on sale on Friday. Twain began her “Shania: Still The One” shows in October and they will run into next month. The shows mark her first full year performing at Caesars Palace in an event that features trained horses, a live band – and a flying motorcycle.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) – George Jones may be gone, but he certainly won’t be forgotten at this year’s Country Music Association Awards. The CMA says two of its most-nominated singers – George Strait and Alan Jackson – will team up in a tribute to the late country legend. Jones died earlier this year at age 81. Now that Strait is performing, all five of the entertainer-of-the-year nominees will be singing during the November 6 ceremony in Nashville. The others are Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Wynonna Judd had so many people comment on the shoes she wears on stage she decided to create her own shoe line. The Got Soul collection will have flats, wedges and sneakers, and they’ll all be bedazzled. The shoes come out in time for the holidays. Judd has some other plans for the holiday season as well. She’ll launch her “A Simpler Christmas” tour on December 3 in Bakersfield, California.

Ellis, KS resident Rylee Werth is a finalist to perform the national anthem at the 2013 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December. She is competing in the Youth Category.

“Country Bumpkin” singer Cal Smith died Thursday (10/10) in Branson, MO at age 81. Born in Gans, OK April 7, 1932, Smith worked as a on-air personality for KEEN/San Jose before joining Earnest Tubb’s Texas Troubadours on rhythm guitar in 1962. He signed with Kapp Records after leaving Tubb’s band in 1966. Among his most notable recordings are “It’s Time To Pay The Fiddler,” which earned him CMA Single Of The Year in 1974, and Bill Anderson’s “The Lord Knows I’m Drinking.” No details on the cause of death or funeral arrangements have been released.

Keith Urban will perform at the sixth annual Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night Dec. 6 on CBS-TV. The hour-long broadcast takes place live from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre and will also feature performances by Robin Thicke, Drake and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The 56th Grammy Awards takes place Jan. 26.

NASHVILLE (AP) – Tim McGraw will play a special concert for members of the U.S. military and their families on Veterans Day weekend. McGraw will perform in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 10. The show will be streamed live on the Pentagon Channel and online at www.TimMcGraw.com and McGraw’s YouTube channel. McGraw says it’s easy for him to show up and play music for men and women who have the really tough jobs, but it’s one small thing he can do to show his appreciation.

NASHVILLE (AP) – The George Jones tribute concert has added more acts to the lineup, including Brad Paisley, Martina McBride and Megadeth. Megadeth? The metal band is indeed on the list of performers. Singer Dave Mustaine says Jones “had a way of putting his finger right into your wounds and letting you know, ‘I understand. I know your pain.”‘ Other artists added to the lineup include Loretta Lynn, Ronnie Milsap, Big and Rich, Lee Ann Womack, Craig Morgan, Thompson Square and Bill Anderson. The concert also has an official name now: “Playin’ Possum! The Final NO Show.” It will be held November 22 in Nashville.

NASHVILLE (AP) – Kenny Rogers has an old friend to thank for “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” and it isn’t Dolly Parton. Rogers says he played a festival in California and a man introduced himself as Ryan King, son of William King of The Commodores. Rogers remembered King as a kid playing with his son at his house, and King said he had recently told his friends, “You can’t make old friends.” Rogers told that story the next day to Don Schlitz, who wrote “The Gambler” for Rogers. Schlitz asked if he could use that for a song and came up with something the next day. Schlitz offered Rogers a songwriting credit for coming up with that title but Rogers said King should get it. Parton sings that song with Rogers on his new album of the same name. It’s out this week.

(AP) — Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter as well as Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are in Denver to help build new townhomes for Habitat for Humanity.
They’ll be working alongside other volunteers and families who will be living in the new homes on Wednesday in the Globeville neighborhood.
In the evening, the former president will also attend a dinner celebrating the project at the National Western Events Center Arena. The lead singer of The Fray, Isaac Slade, is set to perform there.
