khaz dolly parton kenny rogers 20130904NASHVILLE (AP) – Thirty years after “Islands in the Stream” was released, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton will release a new duet. It’s called “You Can’t Make Old Friends” and it’s the title track off Rogers’ album. It’s available for download now on iTunes. Rogers says working with Parton is “a little like going home. Everything felt comfortable.” The album comes out October 8.

Gentry says he’s there with two cancer survivors, Randy Owen and Jeff Cook, so how could he not be having the time of his life. He says he could be sitting there without either of them and they’re blessed to be able to do what they do. Their new album, “Alabama and Friends,” is out. Featured guests include Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney and Luke Bryan.”

Dierks Bentley (Capitol Records)NASHVILLE (AP) – Dierks Bentley has enlisted Jake Owen and Easton Corbin to perform at his “Miles and Music for Kids” celebrity motorcycle ride and concert. Bentley calls the annual event the most fun day of his year. He feels he has to make up for last year’s ride because it got rained out. Proceeds benefit Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.

KHAZ Country Music News: Carrie Underwood to Perform “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night”

khaz carrie underwood 20130829Carrie Underwood will perform “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” for NBC-TV’s Sunday Night Football alongside appearances by the Arizona Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald, Denver Broncos’ Peyton Manning, Dallas Cowboys’ DeMarcus Ware and 10 other NFL Players. The theme opens each game of the season beginning when Dallas hosts the New York Giants Sept. 8. KHAZ Country Music News: New Randy Travis Album on the Way

Randy TravisNASHVILLE (AP) – Even as Randy Travis recovers from a stroke and heart failure he suffered last month, he is putting out new music. Travis will release an album in honor of his musical heroes called “Influence Volume 1: The Man I Am.” Those heroes include Lefty Frizzell, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, George Jones and Ernest Tubb. It’s uncertain when Travis made the recordings. One of the songs will be a duet with Joe Nichols on “Tonight I’m Playin’ Possum,” which Travis debuted during the CMA Music Festival in June. “Influence Volume 1” comes out October 1.

KHAZ Country Music News: Alan Jackson’s Daughter Arrested

Alan Jackson (EMI)NASHVILLE (AP) – Alan Jackson’s 20-year-old daughter has been accused of hitting a police officer and then using her father’s name as leverage. Alexandra Jane Jackson has been charged with assault, underage drinking and resisting arrest during a traffic stop in Nashville yesterday. Police say she was irate and refused to stay in the car, and she struck an officer. The police affidavit says Jackson resisted when officers cuffed her. As she was booked into the jail, she told the officer her father “would do anything I wanted him to do.” WSMV-TV reports she was released early yesterday. Alan Jackson’s spokeswoman had no comment.

KHAZ Country Music News: The Band Perry to Head Overseas

khaz the band perry 20130327NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Kimberly Perry says overseas fans of The Band Perry get the group’s music – but not her jokes. She thinks it’s because of “the language barrier” – but her band mates say her jokes are just no good. The group will get to try out their music – and jokes – on overseas audiences again. They are launching a world tour that starts in Europe. Neil Perry says he loves that audiences have learned the words to their songs – even though they don’t know English. Kimberly Perry says she’s excited that they will “go into some territories that don’t get touched by country music that often.” She says it’s a chance for the group to “get boots on the ground and plant he country flag.”

KHAZ Country Music News: Luke Bryan Celebrating Crash My Party Album

khaz luke bryan 20130227Congratulations to Luke Bryan, UMG/Nashville and the entire Luke team on the No. 1 all-genre debut of Crash My Party, which moved approximately 528,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The total is the third-biggest debut of the year and makes Bryan one of only two country artists that have sold more than a half-million copies of an album in a single week since 2008 (Taylor Swift).
