Eric Hosmer hit a game-winning single in the 11th inning, scoring Chris Getz as the Kansas City Royals snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Toronto.
Hosmer was involved in all three Kansas City runs, picking up two RBIs and scoring a run. Getz led off the 11th with a bunt single. He moved up to second on Brayan Pena’s single to left. Alcides Escobar moved the runners up with a sacrifice bunt. After Melky Cabrera lined out to third, Hosmer delivered the game winner.
Joakim Soria picks up his first win after being removed from the closer’s role last week. He did not allow a hit in two innings of work.
Game two of the series is tonight. Royals pre-game is at 6:35 on KAYS.
