The Kansas City Royals rally in the eighth and ninth innings, but come up a run short, losing 9-8 to Toronto.

The Blue Jays drive in seven of their nine runs on two homers. Jayson Nix hit a three-run homer to put the Jays on top 5-4 in the fourth. Adam Lind followed with a grand slam in the sixth to cap Toronto’s scoring.

Billy Butler hit a three-run blast in the eighth, and Alex Gordon made it a one-run game with a RBI double in the ninth. However, Melky Cabrera lined out to shortstop to end the game.

Danny Duffy takes the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits and walks four.
