Vin Mazzaro pitched seven strong innings with the help of five double plays as the Royals beat the Los Angeles Angels 9-0, taking two of the three in Anaheim.
Mazarro scattered five hits, walking five and did not strike out a batter and worked out of a bases loaded situation in the seventh for his first win of the season. Blake Wood pitched the final two innings. All five of the Royals double plays were started by shortstop Alcides Escobar.
Alex Gordon, Billy Butler and Chris Getz each drove in two runs. Mitch Maier had three hits and scored three runs. The Royals take seven of their ten meetings with the Angels.
Kansas City is off today before starting a series in Oakland tomorrow night.
