Larks starter Jose Gomez took a no-hitter into the sixth last night in Dodge City, but a walk, bunt single, double and passed ball led to two runs in the sixth and the A’s shutout the Larks 2-0 to snap Hays four-game win streak. The two hits in the sixth were the only hits of the game for the A’s who lost 11-5 to Larks Tuesday night in Hays.
Gomez, from Pima CC, struck out three and walked one over six innings and takes the loss. Chandler-Gilbert’s Malcom Purdy did not allow a hit in the final two innings.
The Larks had ten hits in the game but strand 11 base runners. Kelton Rule, Tito Andino and Cam Brown all had two hit gamess.
The Larks are now 10-5 and 7-4 and fall back into second place in the Jayhawk League. They return home Thursday night for a non-league doubleheader with Colorado beginning at 6pm.
