NEWTON, Kan. (AP) – A south-central Kansas woman has been indicted on charges of robbing four banks and attempting to rob a fifth over a two-year span.
The U.S. Attorney’s office announced the charges against 51-year-old Moundridge resident Vicki Arce (AHR’-see) on Wednesday.
She has been held since June 10 in the Harvey County jail on state charges.
Arce is accused of holding up a Wichita credit union in April 2009; a Hutchinson bank in December 2010; another Hutchinson bank in January 2011; and a Newton credit union on June 9. She’s also charged with trying to rob a bank in McPherson on June 9.
No attorney is listed for Arce in court records. But her sister, Carol Alvord, told KWCH-TV the accusations are a shock. Alvord says her sister “had to be facing something bad or desperate.”
