Cam Brown’s one-out solo homer to straight away centerfield in the sixth inning broke a 4-4 tie and lifted the Hays Larks to a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the El Dorado Broncos Saturday night at Larks Park.
El Dorado tried to rally in the ninth, loading the bases with one out but grounding into a game-ending double play when Cam Brown backhanded a grounder and threw home for the second out then received the return throw from catcher Rick Stover to end the game.
The Larks score two in the first but fell behind 4-2 when the Broncos plated three in the fifth. The Larks answered with two in the bottom of the inning with two out to tie.
Tory Doerr (Dare) picks up the win in relief. Micheal Burchett pitched the final 1 2/3 innings for his fifth save. The Larks improve to 18-11 and 12-9 in the Jayhawk League. They will go for the series sweep Sunday night at seven 0’clock. The game will be broadcast on KAYS beginning at 6:40pm.
