Smoke could be seen coming from The Mall parking lot Tuesday night, but it was just a drill. Firefighters from the different departments inEllisCountyare practicing with help from theUniversityofKansas Fireand Rescue Training Institute. Hays Fire Chief Gary Brown says the trailer simulates a structure fire.

Brown thanks the Mall for providing the space for training, which will continue Wednesday and Thursday nights to allow each firefighter a chance to participate.
