Holly Dickman, Ellis County Extension Horticulture Agent is offering an informational program for those interested in learning more about the deadly pine disease known as Pine Wilt. This workshop will be held on Thursday, October 6th at 7:00 pm in the Ellis County Meeting Room at 601 Main St., Hays.
This program will cover the basics of the pine wilt disease, what trees are affected, how the disease is spread, and what efforts are being taken to prevent the disease from becoming a major issue in the Western half of the state. Potential “replacement” trees for those commonly affected by pine wilt will also be discussed.
This program is free to the public but it is requested that those interested in attending pre-register with the Ellis County Extension Office at (785)628-9430, no later than Tuesday, October 4th. There must be a minimum of 10 people pre-registered to hold the program.
