The U.S. Postal Service is considering moving mail processing from Hays and Salina to Wichita.
The Postal Service has conducted a study with the results supporting the effort to consolidate mail processing operations. A public meeting will be held November 29th at 6:30 at Hays High School.
This year, the Postal Service has moved mail processing operations from Colby and Hays to Salina, from Fort Scott to Kansas City and from Hutchinson and Independence to Wichita. It is also considering of moving processing operations from Topeka toKansas City.
Postal Service spokesman Brian Sperry says a decline in the use of mail is prompting hundreds of consolidations nationwide.
