There are over 700 community foundations across the country and they are all celebrating this week as National Community Foundation Week. Heartland Community Foundation executive director Bob Lowen says community foundations are becoming a popular way to provide financial resources for local organizations.

The Heartland Community Foundation serves Rooks, Trego and Ellis counties. The Foundation started in 2007, and Lowen says contributions are nearing one million dollars.
