The Hays Police Department is investigating a report of suspicious activity near O’Loughlin Elementary School.
It was reported that shortly after school was dismissed on Tuesday, April 24, a group of students was approached by a white van occupied by two adult males. The students were invited into the van, but the students loudly refused, instead running to one student’s home nearby, where they told their parents, who notified police. There has only been one such incident reported.
The Hays Police Department is currently working to locate the vehicle and its occupants.
Chief of Police, Don Scheibler, would like to remind everyone to exercise caution and to follow these safety tips:
- Travel in pairs or groups
- Remain alert to your surroundings, including location, vehicles and people
- Never get into a strangers vehicle
- Don’t give out personal information to strangers
- If you aren’t comfortable with a person or situation, get away and get help
- Call 911 whenever you feel that something is dangerous
