They work together all the time, often in very dangerous situations.  Sunday afternoon the Hays Police and Fire Departments came together again, with absolutely no intention of cooperating.

The reason–a couple of exhibition softball games to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Both departments are also selling pink t-shirts at their respective offices, at Friday’s Oktoberfest and during Saturday’s Fort Hays State University homecoming parade in front of the fire department.

Officers are also wearing pink t-shirts this month, and have tied pink ribbons on department vehicles.
