FHSU Men’s Soccer Drops Out of National Rankings; Falls to No. 4 in Region

The Fort Hays State men’s soccer team dropped out of the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer National Poll for the first time in seven weeks. The Tigers received votes in this week’s poll, but did not make the top 25. In the Central Region rankings, the Tigers fell to No. 4 after being ranked No. 1 last week.

The Tigers were ranked six straight weeks prior to this week’s rankings. Last week FHSU ranked No. 17. FHSU dropped after going 1-1 last weekend. The Tigers dropped a tough match, 2-1, to Truman on Thursday, but finished the weekend with a 3-2 win over Upper Iowa on Friday. The Tigers are 9-4-1 and 5-2-1 in the MIAA.

FHSU dropped from No. 1 in the Central Region to No. 4 this week. Northeastern State moved to No. 1 for the first time this season, and Lindenwood went from No. 3 up to No. 2. Truman also moved up one spot to No. 3.

Two MIAA teams are ranked in the polls. Northeastern State, which the Tigers play this weekend, is the highest ranked team at No. 19, and Lindenwood ranks No. 23. The Tigers and Truman are receiving votes in the poll.

The Tigers return to the pitch this Thursday at No. 19 Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla. at 7 p.m. FHSU plays Harding on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Searcy, Ark.
