The Fort Hays State Lady Tigers built a 10-point second half lead then held off a late Missouri Southern charge to beat the Lions 62-55 Saturday afternoon at Gross Coliseum. It’s the first time since December the Lady Tigers have won back-to-bacl games and improves their record to 14-5 and 6-5 in the MIAA. Southern loses their sixth straight and falls to 10-9 and 4-7 in the conference.
The Lady Tigers built a couple of 10-point leads in the second half. The Lions pulled within three with under six and-a-half minutes to play before a conventional three-point play from Kate Lehman pushed the lead back to six. Southern got as close as four late but Kate Edwards scored inside with :36 for the final margin.
Edwards and Kate Lehman both scored 14 to lead Fort Hays State who shot 42-percent for the game an hit 20-30 free throws. The Tigers also forced 22 turnovers scoring 20 points off of turnovers.
