Tigers Hold Off Missouri Southern 83-69

FHSU-MBB-NicholsonThe Fort Hays State Tigers used a 17-2 second half run to go up 17 after Missouri Southern had pulled within two, and defeat the Lions 83-69 in front of a season-high 3,277 fans Saturday afternoon at Gross Coliseum. The win improves FHSU to 13-6 and 7-4 in the MIAA. The Lions lose their fifth straight and fall to 9-10 overall and 4-7 in the MIAA.

The Tigers built a 10-point lead at the half but saw Southern pull within a bucket before the big run. Fort Hays State hit thier final six free throws to keep the Lions at bay. They finished 23-of-26 from the foul line including 15-of-16 in the second half.

Lance Russell and Carson Konrade led four Tigers in double-figures with 18 points. Dwayne Brunson scored 16 and Craigh Nicholson 15 with 10 assists for his second straight double-double.
