Bond has been set for two men in a case involving sexual offenses against a child.

In a news release Tuesday, the Ellis County Attorney’s Office said Lester William Crayton, 57, Ellis County, and Michael Terry Bressler, 49, Red Oak, Iowa, appeared Monday in Ellis County District Court for a bond hearing. Both were arrested July 3 in Hays.

The court found probable cause to hold Crayton for sexual exploitation of a child and attempted electronic solicitation of a child. The court found probable cause to hold Bressler for two counts of attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

District Court Judge Glenn R. Braun set bond at $500,000 for each defendant.

Charges are to be filed on or before July 13, and both men remain in jail in lieu of bond, according to the release.

An investigation, which began approximately two weeks ago by members of the Ellis County High Technology Crime Unit, led to the arrests. The Ellis County HTCU is made up of members of the Hays Police Department, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Hays State university Police Department. Agents with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation assisted wit the investigation, and the Plainville Police Department assisted with the arrest of Bressler.
