The Hays Fire Department wants to replace its 2002 pumper-ladder truck with a 2016 demonstrator pumper-ladder truck.

City commissioners will consider approving the $601,850 purchase from Hays Fire and Rescue Sales and Service during the June 8 meeting. The new equipment reserve budget includes $700,000 for the purpose. The 2002 truck would be sold to offset the cost of this replacement.

Other agenda items for Thursday’s city commission meeting include approval of revisions to the city’s development policy and renewal of the city’s commercial insurance policy with Midwest Public Risk.

A public hearing will also be held for special assessments in the 46th Street Second Addition Phase II, King’s Gate First Addition Phase II, Tallgrass Addition Phase V and S&W Alley Pavement followed by a vote on the ordinance assessing the cost of improvements to the property owners.

The complete agenda is available here. The city commission meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Thu. in Hays City Hall, 1507 Main.
