No wonder you piled on that extra blanket Tuesday night.

The daytime high temperature was 47 degrees according to official statistics from the K-State Agricultural Research Center. It felt colder, as the north wind blew a steady 30 to 35 mph with a peak gust of 48 mph recorded at the Hays Regional Airport just before 1 p.m.

The overnight low fell all the way to 15 degrees and set a new record.

The previous low temperature for April 3 in Hays was 18 degrees back in 1945.
