SALINA -A Kansas man, previously arrested after attempting to kidnap a woman at Walmart in Salina, now faces additional charges for allegedly raping a convenience store clerk.
Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney said that after fleeing Walmart following the initial incident in the early morning hours of July 3rd, the suspect Jerrid Wayne Logan, 31, Delphos, drove to a south Salina convenience store at approximately 5:00 a.m., and forced a female clerk, who was working outside the building, into the business.
Once inside, Logan allegedly raped and sodomized her. Logan then took money from her and attempted to force her into his vehicle.
The victim, who is in her 50’s, was able to pull away and escape. She reported the incident to police later that day.
Moments before raping the woman at the convenience store, Logan attempted to kidnap a woman who was shopping at Walmart, 2900 South 9th.
A 42-year-old woman reported that she was shopping in the store just before 4:30 a.m., when Logan accosted her at knife point and attempted to lead her to a restroom.
She pulled away from him and screamed and said the man then punched her on the side of the face and attempted to the leave the store.
A store manager then confronted him and the man threatened the manager with the knife. He was seen leaving the area in a white Ford Crown Victoria.
An officer located a vehicle matching that description in the 1300 block of Crescent Drive and The officers found the man in a residence in that area.
Logan was taken into custody and at the time was initially booked on requested charges of Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Battery and Possession of Methamphetamine in relation to the Walmart incident. He now faces additional charges including Aggravated Robbery, two counts of Criminal Sodomy, two counts of Rape and an additional count of Kidnapping for the attack on the convenience store clerk.
According to Saline County records, Logan is being held on a total bond of $9,000,000.
