Obituary – November 8, 2012

Paul S. Schrant

Walker, Kansas – Paul S. Schrant, age 84, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Via Christi Village Care Center, Hays, Kansas.

He was Born May 14, 1928, on the family farm South of Walker, Kansas, to William and Margaret (Heffner) Schrant.  He married Alice Marie (Rupp) on October 11, 1958, in Ellis, Kansas.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, a farmer and worked in the oil fields.  He was on the drilling rigs for over 30 years, and with Raines & Williamson Oil company for 15 years.  He served as the Walker Township Assessor for five years.  He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Walker, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Alice M. Schrant, of the home; five daughters, Marilyn Joy and husband, George, Hays, KS; Lucy Conness and husband, Dave, WaKeeney, KS; Marjorie Straub and husband, Rick, Walker, KS; Patricia Anschutz, Hays, KS; Pamela Irwin and husband, Darren, Salina, KS; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William R. “Bill” Schrant (January 18, 2012);  two grandchildren, Curtis and Threse Conness, one brother, William John Schrant; four half-brothers, Bernard Thomas and Lawrence Thomas, William E. Schrant and William F. Schrant; two sisters, Irene Brown and Stella Sander; and infant half-sister, Mary Florence Schrant.

Services are 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 10, 2012, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Walker, Kansas.  Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Walker, Kansas, with military honors by the Victoria V.F.W. Post No. 1751.

A vigil service is at 7:00 P.M. Friday, followed by a Victoria Daughter of Isabella/Walker Christian Mothers rosary at 7:30 P.M. all at Cline’s Mortuary, 412 Main Street, Victoria, Kansas  67671.   Visitation is from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Friday, at Cline’s Mortuary, Victoria, Kansas, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Walker, Kansas. Memorial to St. Ann’s Catholic Church or St. Ann’s Cemetery.
