Margie L. Allen

Margie L. Allen, age 76, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on February 25, 1942 in Scott County, Kansas, the daughter of LeRoy and Mary Kessler Beeson. A lifetime resident of Scott County, Kansas, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas. Margie loved playing bingo and being surrounded by her son, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On November 13, 1960 she married Russ Allen in Scott City, Kansas. He survives.

Survivors Include her Husband – Russ Allen of Scott City, Kansas, One Son – Troy & Christy Allen of Kansas City, Kansas, One Sister – Lillian Pike of Hutchinson, Kansas, One Grandson – Jeff & Marie Allen of Scott City, Kansas, One Granddaughter – Ashley Allen of Kansas City, Missouri and 4 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents and Two Brothers – Victor Beeson and Jimmie Beeson.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas with Rev. John Lewis presiding.

Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Carl E. Jacobs

Agra resident Carl E. Jacobs passed away October 7, 2018 at the Sun Porch Nursing Home in Smith Center, KS at the age of 81. He was born July 3, 1937 in Phillips County, KS, the son of Charles and Lola (Randall) Jacobs.

He is survived by his sister, Esther Leyendecker of Huron, SD and nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Daryl Dougherty officiating.

Robert Paul ‘Bob’ Moser Sr.

Robert Paul “Bob” Moser Sr., age 86, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Greeley County Hospital/Long Term Care in Tribune, Kansas. Bob was born July 12, 1932 on the Moser family homestead in Greeley County, the son of Paul Frederick & Esther Gladys Bjork Moser. A resident of Tribune, Kansas since 1959 moving from Aurora, Colorado, Bob was owner and operator of Bob’s Body & Repair in Tribune, Kansas. Bob served his country in the United States Navy from April of 1952 through June of 1953.

Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas. He also held membership in VFW Post # 7521 in Tribune, Kansas as well as the Masonic Lodge #471 of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Scottish Rite Shrine in Scott City, Kansas and the Order of the Eastern Star of Lakin, Kansas.

On October 25, 1953 he married Margaret Marie “Maggie” Curtis in Tribune, Kansas. Maggie passed away on May 20, 2009 in Tribune, Kansas.

Bob’s surviving family includes-

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am (MST) Monday, October 15, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas with Pastor Robert Selvakumar officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas with military honors provided by the United States Navy, District 8 American Legion and the VFW Post # 7521 of Tribune, Kansas.

Marilyn Lou (Sorensen) Lindemann

Marilyn Lou (Sorensen) Lindemann, 85, peacefully moved to her heavenly home on October 6, 2018, surrounded by family.

She was born on December 22,1932, in Arapahoe, Nebraska, to Soren and Lenore Sorensen. Fond memories of her childhood with her sister, Janice Brazil, in Arapahoe and the Danish community of Dannebrog, brought her peace and happiness throughout her life.

She also lived in Oberlin, Hays and Andover, Kansas, where her backyards became her sanctuary. The yards were full of flower beds, blooming trees, vines and whimsical yard art which complemented her sense of humor. She created her secret gardens to share with the birds, squirrels and her beloved Boston bull terriers. Marilyn found love and serenity in God’s word, nature, time with family, adventures with her friends, picnics in the park and the loyal companionship of her dog, Sissy.

Marilyn is survived by three children and their spouses, two grandchildren and a niece; Rocke and Eddie Lindemann, Polly and John Charleston, Troy, Kimberly, Luke and Elise Lindemann; all of Wichita, KS and Rojean Landwehr of Claremore, OK.

Marilyn retired from High Plains Mental Health Center, Hays, in 1998, where she worked as a mental health therapist, but her favorite job was her first, working as a soda jerk in her dad’s pharmacy. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 11:00 at Central Baptist Church, 7421 SW Church Rd, Augusta, KS.

Doyle ‘Tony’ F. Stanton

Phillipsburg resident Doyle “Tony” F. Stanton passed away Wed., Oct. 10, 2018 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 79.

He was born in Logan, KS on May 5, 1939, the son of Wilbur & Della (Ashley) Stanton. On April 9, 1961 he married Dorothy Paramore in Phillipsburg. She preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2017.

Survivors include his son, Todd Stanton of Harrisburg, PA; daughter, Deb Kennedy, of Phillipsburg; three brothers: Darrell and Delbert Stanton, both of Hays, KS and Mike Stanton
of Logan, KS; three sisters: Echo Krouse and Elaine Holloway, both of Logan, KS and Ann Siler of Neosho, MO; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Blake Stanwood and Rev. Delbert Stanton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.

Mr. Stanton will lie in-state on Sunday from 5 – 9 p.m. and again Monday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, where the family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 – 8 p.m.

Delano Dean ‘Doc’ Schwindt

Delano Dean “Doc” Schwindt, age 85, died on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Grisell Memorial Hospital, Ransom. He was born on September 2, 1933 near Utica, Kansas the son of Benjamin and Ella (Foos) Schwindt.

Doc graduated from the eighth grade in a country school in Trego County that was situated on the family farm and then he attended Utica High School for a couple of years until he went to work full time on the family farm. Doc was a hard worker and good provider for his family. He never met a stranger; everyone was his friend. Doc loved to hunt and fish. He was well known for his “dead eye” shooting and his trick shots. He enjoyed fishing, but his passion was hunting: deer, coons, coyotes, pheasants, or anything that moved, crawled, jumped or flew.

Doc married Amelia Rohr on August 27, 1952 in Park, Kansas. They made their home on the family farm near Utica where they raised their five children. He taught his children the value of hard work and good play just as he had been taught. While on the farm Doc also hauled water for the oil field. In 1985 Doc and Millie moved to Colby, Kansas to operate the Country Club Motel. They returned to Utica in 1991. He then played a vital role in Aeroswint, the family business, as well as helping work on the family farm.

Delano is survived by his wife of 66 years, Amelia; his two daughters, Marilyn Johnson (Billy) of Utica and Carolyn Folkenroth (Joe) of Clinton, Arkansas; two sons, Bobbie Schwindt (Donna) of Colby and Rick Schwindt (Mary) of Utica; one brother, Lyle Schwindt (Deana) of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Schwindt; two brothers, Lawrence and Ben Schwindt; and one sister, Mildred Brau.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, October 11, 2018, 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church, Utica followed by burial in the Utica Cemetery. Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, will be open for viewing on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. The family would love for you to join them at the funeral home between 6-8 pm.

Velma L. Boyd

Velma L. Boyd, 84, of Colby, died Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the Logan County Hospital, in Oakley. She was born November 15, 1933, in rural Thomas County, KS, to Clarence L. and Ruby M (Kistler) Wagy.

Velma attended Page City schools, graduating in 1951. She then attended Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, in Kansas City, MO, graduating in 1954. Velma worked at Logan County Hospital for a year, then at Gove County Medical Center, in Quinter for 3 years.

Velma married Norman M. Boyd May 6, 1961, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church, in Page City, KS. To this union two sons were born, Marvin Wayne Boyd and Alan Keith Boyd. Velma continued her nursing career, working at Logan County Hospital for 27 years. Norman and Velma made their first home in Page City, for a short while, where Velma lived as a young girl. In 1964 they moved to Monument, KS, where Velma lived until 2016, when she moved in with her older son and wife in Colby, KS.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruby; husband Norman in 2005 and sisters, Maxine M. Berry, M. Darlene Stephens and Donna M. Shull.

She is survived by her two sons, Marvin W. Boyd and wife Mary Ann, of Colby and Alan K. Boyd, of Monument; grandson, Nathan D. Mathews; granddaughters, Natrisha (Chad) Delano, of Bird City, KS and Allison J. Boyd, of Oakley; three great grandchildren, Talia, Taysen and Tevin Delano and many friends and relatives.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, also at the Mortuary. Kirsten DeeAnn Daily

Kirsten DeeAnn (Applegate) Daily, 56, Hays, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 in Hays.

She was born Jan. 9, 1962 in Topeka, the second of four children to Dr. Francis R. and Haven (Moore) Applegate.

She was a graduate of Hays High School and obtained her nursing license from North Central Kansas Technical College in September 1999.

In the years prior to her death, Kirsten enjoyed spending her time gardening at her parents’ home, especially bringing fresh-cut flowers to her mother, caring for others and rescuing animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Addison. She will be remembered most for her caring attitude and big heart.

Survivors include her parents; Francis and Haven Applegate of Hays; two brothers Darin Applegate of Salina and Troy Applegate and wife Connie of Gunter, Texas; a sister Noelle Applegate-Fox of Frisco, Texas; three children Kalee Shea Daily of Dallas, Courtney Noelle Karlin and husband Trent of Hays, and Koby Francis Daily of Olathe; a granddaughter Addison Karlin of Hays; a granddog Gotti; and nieces Alexandra and Ashley Applegate and Brooke and Sadie Fox.

The Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St., with Pastor Brant Rice officiating. Private family inurnment will be in the Fort Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Matthew James Schluckebier, infant son of Jacob and Nickia (Auker) Schluckebier, Burdett, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

Robert “Bob” Moffatt

Phillipsburg resident, Robert “Bob” Moffatt, passed away October 6, 2018 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS at the age of 71. He was born Feb. 27, 1947 in Amarillo, TX, the son of Robert Carl and Inez Boque (Oglesby) Moffatt. He was the former owner and operator of Miles Furniture.

Survivors include his wife Penny of the home; his son Ryan of Phillipsburg; his daughter, Stacy Slechta of Newton; his sister, Marilyn Kuller of Arrowhead, OK and 4 grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen. A Memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg, with Dick Higgins and Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. A private family inurnment will be held in the Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:00 Thursday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
