KHAZ Country Music News: Jake Owen and Wife Lacey Welcome Their First Child on Thanksgiving Day

Congratulations to Jake Owen and his wife, Lacey, on the birth of their first child, Olive Pearl Owen. The bundle of joy came into the world Thursday in Nashville weighing 6 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 19 and half inches long. The child will go by her middle name Pearl in honor of Jake’s godmother who passed away earlier this year.

Says Jake, “Lacey and I are so excited to start our own family. We are looking forward to teaching Pearl everything we learned from our parents and also learning from her.”

Jake posted a picture of himself holding his baby girl on Twitter Thursday.

KHAZ Country Music News: Martin Scorsese in Talks to Direct Garth Brooks TV Special from Wynn Las Vegas

Garth Brooks‘ run of shows at the Wynn Las Vegas may be over, but he plans to return to the resort’s Encore Theatre for a live TV event soon. According to the Las Vegas Sun, Wynn honcho Steve Wynn is in talks with Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese to helm Garth’s TV production.

Garth remains a little tentative when speaking about the live broadcast, saying, “It would be amazing if it works out with Scorsese. I’m not confirming or denying that.”

Garth will now begin planning a return to the road, and Steve Wynn hints that will kick off in August 2014. Wynn says that trek will take six months to put together, and Garth just wants to spend time at home with his youngest daughter before she heads off to college in 2014.

KHAZ Music News: Trace Adkins Will Help Usher In Christmas At Rockefeller Center

(AP) – The annual lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center will take place November 28 and Trace Adkins will help celebrate. He joins artists including Mariah Carey, Cee Lo Green, and Rod Stewart for the holiday extravaganza that airs live on NBC. This year’s tree is a Norway Spruce approximately 80 feet tall.

KHAZ Music News: Miranda Lambert Says No To Christmas Albums

(AP) – Miranda Lambert says she will “never” record a Christmas album. And fans can blame it on husband Blake Shelton. Lambert told Country Weekly that her husband wears her out with holiday tunes. She says “he listens to Christmas music all year round.” As much as she loves Christmas and Christmas music, Lambert says “he does enough for both” of them. Shelton’s album “Cheers, It’s Christmas” debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s country albums chart in October. And his “Not So Family Christmas” TV special airs December 3. Lambert is participating in that.

KHAZ Music News: Blake Shelton Gets Christmas TV Special

(AP) – Blake Shelton is getting his own holiday television special. And even though he’s calling it “Blake’s Not So Family Christmas” show, his mom and his wife Miranda Lambert will both make appearances just like they do on his new holiday album, ‘Cheers.’ Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson will also join Shelton for the holiday special which premieres December 3 on NBC.

KHAZ Music News: Jennifer Nettles To Host ‘CMA Country Christmas’ Again

(AP) – It’s not even Halloween yet, and Jennifer Nettles is already thinking about Christmas. She will be hosting the “CMA Country Christmas” TV special again this year on ABC. The two-hour show will feature performances by Dierks Bentley, Colbie Caillat, Lady Antebellum, John Legend, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Scotty McCreery, The Band Perry and Keith Urban. It will be taped in front of a live audience at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 3rd. People are encouraged to drop off an unwrapped toy at the arena the day of the show for children in need. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.

KHAZ Music News: Shania Twain Wants To Make A Christmas Record

(AP) – The next music Shania Twain records might have a holly, jolly jingle to it. She tells Up! Magazine that she’s been “dying to do a Christmas album for so long” and now is the best time to do that. Twain is launching her “Still The One” concert series in Las Vegas in December. She says once the show is underway, she’s going to get nostalgic and make the Christmas record happen.

KHAZ Music News: Scotty McCreery On His Upcoming Christmas Album

(AP) – “Christmas with Scotty McCreery” is hitting the store shelves in less than two weeks. McCreery says his goal for the holiday album – his first – was to make an album that would make both him and his fans feel good. He tells GAC that he “just wanted it to be holly and jolly and really lift people’s spirits in the Christmas season because it’s supposed to be a really happy time.” But, he says, he also wanted to “get across the real reason for the season” and that’s why he chose the song ‘Christmas in Heaven’ – his favorite on the album. He says he knew he wanted to record the song after listening to the first verse. The album is available October 16.

KHAZ Music News: Scotty McCreery Plays Christmas Album

(AP) – Scotty McCreery says they always listen to Christmas music early at his house, so that’s why he’s eager to release a Christmas album. “Christmas With Scotty McCreery” comes out October 16. He says ever since he launched his music career, he’s wanted to do a holiday record. It includes two new songs: “Christmas in Heaven” and “Christmas Is Coming Around.” McCreery also does “O Holy Night,” the song he sang as a fifth-grader while playing Joseph in a Christmas play. McCreery tackles holiday standards like “Jingle Bells,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Let It Snow.”

KHAZ Music News: Oak Ridge Boys To Release Christmas Album

(AP) – The Oak Ridge Boys are ready to deck the halls with a new holiday album. They are releasing “Christmas Time’s A-Coming” on Sept. 25 through digital and retail outlets across the country. An exclusive version is already available through Cracker Barrel, which features two bonus tracks. Joe Bonsall says the CD has a great mix of new and traditional songs that they look forward to adding to their Christmas tour in November.

(AP) – When Scotty McCreery decorates his Christmas tree this year, chances are he’ll be listening to himself. He is releasing the album “Christmas with Scotty McCreery” on October 16th. It will feature nine classic holiday songs as well as two originals. McCreery says he wanted the record to be “holly and jolly” but also express what he calls “the real reason for the season:” the birth of Jesus. His favorite song on the mix is one of the new ones: “Christmas in Heaven.” Some of the covers are: “Mary Did You Know?” “Winter Wonderland,” “Jingle Bells,” “Let It Snow,” “The Christmas Song” and “O Holy Night.”
